Hablemos Press, Elio Delgado, Havana, 1 August 2015 — In the ’70s, it was prohibited to wear any garment or accessory depicting an American image, have long hair [for men], or a tattoo. This could get one several years in jail, a beating, and even death.
Now, American flags are in style: on handkerchiefs, pullover tops, shorts, and even underwear. Any moment now, because the Cuban is so ingenious, they’ll come up with a secret fabric for sanitary pads decorated with American flags.
